Implosion of Ashbel Smith Hall

Brand Film

In crowded, historic downtown Austin, Ashbel Smith Hall’s demolition left no room for error.

DPR Construction, who has shaped much of the Austin skyline, is building Block 71 - which will be the largest office tower in town. In the center of the intended footprint, is Ashbel Smith Hall - which is surrounded by other DPR constructed towers and a historic monument. DPR hired our team to document the months leading up to the scheduled implosion and get creative with our storytelling in the edit. We worked to incorporate the teamwork and precision required from the DPR teams, and build anticipation for the detonator to be activated.

“The intensity of this implosion was felt by our team before, during and after the implosion. This film perfectly replicated those feelings.”
